Last weekend, Running2London athletes Bridey Delaney, Jeremy Roff and James Nipperess took to the streets of Leonora WA, in search of road mile victories.
Nipperess and Roff qualified for the final, with the cut throat heats seeing three good athletes miss out on progressing. In what amounted to a kickers race, Roff followed up on his 2009 second placing with a credible third. Nipperess, on his first trip to Leonora, ran a confident race to finish only one quarter of a second behind, in fourth place, after initiating and leading the kick for home.
In the womens race, Delaney missed out on the victory by a mere 35-hundreths of a second as the lead three women kicked hard over the final 150m. The race was Delaneys final hitout before heading overseas in pursuit of a Commonwealth Games A-Qualifier in the 1500m.
